Tasks: Analytical Chemist

We are looking for an experienced Analytical Chemist to join a dynamic R&D team for one of our clients in Chemistry.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mass spectrometry and structure elucidation, with a passion for solving complex analytical challenges.

This is an on-site role in Münchwilen, AG, for 2 years mission.

Analytical Chemist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement mass spectrometry (MS) analytical strategies to support product development projects.
  • Utilize high-resolution MS and advanced software to solve challenging analytical questions.
  • Interpret MS data for structure elucidation of unknown compounds, reaction masses, technical-grade active ingredients, and final products.
  • Advise on and perform analytical experiments to answer structure elucidation questions.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources and provide actionable insights to project teams.
  • Develop and apply quantitative methodologies, identifying techniques and methods to meet project objectives.
  • Maintain and optimize MS instrumentation, proposing improvements to enhance capability and capacity.
  • Stay up-to-date with technological advances in mass spectrometry, chromatography, data processing, and informatics systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience applying mass spectrometry to determine small molecule chemical structures.
  • MSc degree or equivalent (Fachhochschulabschluss / Chemielaborant Ausbildung).
  • Strong theoretical and practical experience in mass spectrometry, including instrument optimization.
  • Knowledge of LC and LC-MS method development.
  • Understanding of chemical structures and synthetic chemistry mechanisms.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Excellent command of English and German (minimum B2 level for both).
  • Strong communication skills, flexibility, and results-oriented mindset.
